Reigning World Rugby 7s Player of the Year Perry Baker is a finalist for the same accolade this year, World Rugby announced Monday. The annual award ceremony takes place Nov. 25 at Salle des Etoiles in Monte Carlo.

Joining Baker as nominees are Fiji's Jerry Tuwai and Australia's Ben O'Donnell. Last year, Baker had a pretty big stat to back up his nomination, having led the world in tries. This year, due to injuries, Baker missed several matches, and Carlin Isles led the World Series in tries. Baker finished fifth. The only statistical category either of the other nominees leads is runs, of which O'Donnell made 200 last season.

The candidates for the Women's 7s Player of the Year are all teammates. Portia Woodman, Sarah Goss and Michaele Blyde of New Zealand are the three finalists.
