The United States got its best win of the season in its second pool match of Port Elizabeth, downing Wales, 38-12. The game was much closer than that until the final couple of minutes, but Eagles did what they needed to do to shut the gate.

The opening match of Port Elizabeth was a nightmare for the Eagles in more ways than one – they didn’t muster a single score in the 26-0 loss, and Perry Baker was the victim of a pitch invader. Near the end of the first half, a fan ran onto the field and tackled Baker, who got to his feet and kicked the intruder.
