There was a number of intriguing matches last weekend and our rankings held up. BYU withstood Central Washington for a 58-27 victory and remain atop the rankings despite beating St. Mary's by less than Cal. Cal beat the Gaels 27-14 and both remain at number two and three respectively. Central Washington falls one spot to number six.

Most of the Top 10 played last weekend giving us a good indication of where things stand. Life and Lindenwood had been four and five respectively throughout the year and the teams finally met. Life won handily, 45-15, over Lindenwood so the Running Eagles remain in the fourth spot. The Lions drop one spot behind Central Washington who hammered Oregeon State with 129 points.

The top of the rankings remain unchanged despite a couple of the top teams duking it out. BYU staved off a late St. Mary's comeback to win 30-29 and remain in the top spot. St. Mary's remains at number three and if not for a strong showing by injury plagued Cal side this weekend, it could have moved up to number two despite losing.

Charlotte Rugby club hosted four of our ranked teams this weekend for a double header. Life manhandled Air Force on Saturday 74-0 and beat a tough Navy side 28-19 on Sunday.

Cal has not had a close match with an American side this season and a loss to a consistently strong British Columbia side does not effect its standing in our rankings.

Body of work. That's the key component to figuring the final rankings in a fractured college 7s landscape. Doing well at one tournament is good, winning a tournament is better, and winning multiple tournaments is great. Of course, the quality of competition at a tournament is important, but the last tournaments of the season, the championships, are not necessarily the end-all, be-all.
