The spring 7s season is a few weeks old now, and the results have shaped our Top 25. These are the first rankings since the post LVI reshuffle, with five more tournaments having been played.
In a couple of instances, traditionally strong teams rebounded from poor performances at the LVI. Dartmouth did so winning the Empire Series' opening tournament at Stony Brook, beating Kutztown in the process. The Golden Bears did well to finish second in that event and win St. Joe's tournament a week later in Philadelphia, beating the Hawks, who finished third in Las Vegas. For their efforts, and their track record in 7s over the long haul, the Big Green and Golden Bears climb significantly.
Notre Dame, Bowling Green and West Virginia have also won tournaments recently, but against less-than-eye-popping competition. Notre Dame claimed the ACRL Series opener, beating fellow Penn Mutual CRC participant Virginia Tech in the final. Bowling Green beat CRC participant Michigan to win the four-team College Clash. And West Virginia got past Kansas State in the Big XII tournament in Norman, Okla.
