The college season is getting serious. We had three top-10 match-ups on the weekend, with our rankings holding up through all of them. Two were squeakers, and the other not so much.

Top-ranked BYU overcame a halftime deficit to beat No. 4 St. Mary's, 32-28. No. 2 Cal wallopped then-No. 7 Utah, 82-5. And third-ranked Life nipped Davenport, 28-25. The higher ranked team won each game, making us look good and preventing any change in the top six.

One top-10 team was upset, Navy. The Midshipmen fell 25-19 to previously unranked Wheeling Jesuit. The result sees the Cardinals come in at 14, Navy fall to 16 and Davenport move up one to 7.

Falling out of the Top 25 are Arizona and Texas A&M. The Aggies lost big to unranked LSU, and Arizona's loss to UCLA drops the Wildcats to 2-4 on the season. 2-5 looks inevitable with Utah next on the docket.

Arizona does have an extemely tough schedule, with all of its four losses coming against ranked teams. Wheeling Jesuit was in the same situation. Both have played really good teams close, but at some point you have to turn those close losses into wins. WJU did that and was rewarded. Arizona needs to do that going forward.

LSU, which was undefeated before being suspended in the fall, comes into the Top 25. The Tigers looked set for an SCRC title before some off-the-field issues forced them to shut down. They're back, and they're back in the Top 25.

With big match-ups coming up in the Mid-South and PAC, and friendlies involving St. Mary's and both Cal and BYU, the plot will thicken the next few weeks.

Any consideration for UCF? Back to back national Div I AA championships (2013, 2014). First place in SIRC South, having defeated opponents by a margin of 334-32. Undefeated in winning the SIRC Sevens championship. In addition over the last two years they have beaten five of the teams you have included in your Top 25: Arizona (recently dropped out), Dartmouth (#22), LSU (#21), Clemson (#16), and Lindenwood (#12). Seems to be a pretty good case.
