The DI-AA schedule is considerably lighter this weekend, with several schools, and the entire Southeastern conference, beginning spring break. But there are still plenty of important matches across the country.
In the South Independent, UCF will try to knock off undefeated-in-league Florida State. The Golden Knights scored some revenge last week, beating South Florida, and need to do the same against the Seminoles to salvage a shot at a division title. If UCF wins, it also bolsters its chances to make the SIRC semifinals and cling to postseason hopes.
There’s only one game in the Atlantic Coast this weekend, but it’s massive. No. 16 Maryland takes on 22nd-ranked Clemson in Danville, Va. Every game is huge in the ACRL this year, with no playoff to determine the league champion, and the Tigers and Terrapins have announced themselves as serious contenders already this spring. Saturday’s winner becomes the odds-on favorite to take the conference crown.
Another huge game with postseason implications takes place in the Heart of America, also on neutral ground, with rivals No. 25 Missouri and Kansas meeting in Kansas City, Mo. The winner of this one becomes the frontrunner in the HOA.
Every week has proven to be exciting in Northern California, with Santa Clara, Stanford, Chico State and Sacramento State all either 2-1 or 1-2, and this weekend will be no different. We’ll either see Sacramento State and Santa Clara separate with wins over Chico and Stanford, respectively, or the log jam be more muddied.
