Our first set of rankings is out for the DI Men’s College. With very little action under our belts, and the seasonality issue still plaguing division one, it is difficult to gauge a true top 25. Nonetheless, we at Rugby Today are going to give it a shot.

A majority of the top 10 has yet to play a game but the pedigree of the programs and the returning rosters indicate that these schools will be at the top of the collegiate field again. Cal takes the top spot after dethroning BYU in the Penn Mutual Varsity Cup last year.

Fresh off a strong finish to last season, Army slots in at number eight after beating a tough Iona side 16-5 last Friday. Iona sits at number 21 in our rankings. In total, four Rugby East teams are in the rankings with Penn State and Kutztown in the middle of the pack. Penn State won against Queens College in Canada last week and defeated both of its American opponents by large margins to start the year.

Notre Dame College is putting everyone on notice. The Falcons thrashed Wheeling Jesuit two weeks ago and soundly defeated Navy 28-7 at home this weekend. The Falcons come in at number 14.

Boston College and Dartmouth round out the top 25. The Eagles defeated the Big Green in a close contest 22-17 over the weekend.
