The DIAA spring campaign continued last weekend with three west coast conferences. A tight race is forming in the SIRC South and a couple of teams are emerging as frontrunners in the Pac West, NCRC and Gold Coast.
In the north, Middle Tennessee State has clinched a playoff spot and barring a miracle will take the number one spot in this division. MTSU picked up a forfeit this weekend to move to 7-0 while second place Kennesaw State had a bye. KSU has two games in hand on the Blue Raiders so there is still very much to play for.
In the south, the tables have turned. FIU was undefeated two weeks ago but back-to-back losses have moved them to third in the division. After losing to Florida State last week, FIU fell to Central Florida 41-13. With the win, UCF vaulted into first place with a 7-1 record. Florida State sits at 6-2 in second, while FIU is a bonus point behind with the same record.
Florida State and UCF will play each other in the penultimate game of the season.
The PAC West had three games on the docket and all three were blowouts. Stanford, UC-Santa Cruz, and Chico State all came away with big wins. It is not surprise, these three sit atop the standings. Stanford and Chico State are undefeated at 3-0 while Santa Cruz sits in third at 2-1.
This division was idle this weekend. Oregon State and Western Washington remain the top two teams.
There were two games in the Gold Coast this weekend. Both were blowouts with San Diego blasting Cal State Fullerton 96-0 and Long Beach State besting Loyola Marymount 71-0. Long
Beach State has had two impressive wins to start the year and will be looking to make a playoff push.
The Ivy and Heart of America Conferences will resume later in the year.
