Scores are still rolling in for the Men’s College DII but a few conference matchups brought intriguing results.
In the Northern Lights, Winona gave Minnesota Duluth a tough game. The Fighting Penguins ultimately won 36-19 but Duluth does not have many competitive games this early in the season. Winona has been steadily improving the last couple of seasons and could be a surprise team come playoff time.
In the Southern Conference, UNC-Charlotte made a statement with a 48-0 shutout of Appalachian State. Both teams were 3-0 coming into the week and UNCC put the conference on notice with an emphatic victory.
Newcomers to the New England Wide Conference, Coast Guard, appear to be the team to beat after knocking off defending conference champs, Springfield, this weekend.
William Paterson and Sacred Heart continue to lead the Tri-State but RPI remains undefeated and is still the team to beat. All three teams won this weekend and remain undefeated.
In Upstate NY, Cortland won the battle of the unbeatens, beating RIT in a 53-31 shootout.
