Most of the conference in DII have either entered conference play or concluded this week. The next couple of weeks will bring conference playoffs and ultimately yield the teams heading to nationals.
This conference has already started its conference playoffs. Upstate New York features six teams and the top two teams earned byes in the first round. The remaining four battled it out this weekend with Fredonia topping RIT 43-19 and Buffalo State defeating LeMoyne 43-26. Next week, Buffalo State will travel to top seeded Oswego while Fredonia battles Geneseo.
The WIIL concluded its regular season this weekend. This conference is divided into two divisions and the top four teams from each head into the conference playoffs. Illinois State and UW-Whitewater took the top spots, respectively, and should meet in the finals if all goes to plan.
Here are the playoff matchups:
UW-Whitewater (North 1) vs. Loyola (South 4)
Northern Michigan (North 2) vs. DePaul (South 3)
Illinois State (South 1) vs. UW-Stout (North 4)
Marquette (South 2) vs. UW-Milwaukee (South 3)
The Tri State concluded play this weekend and like the WIIL has an eight team playoff format. RPI and William Paterson both went undefeated and took home top billing.
Here are the playoff matchups:
RPI (North 1) vs. USMMA (South 4)
Siena (North 3) vs. Seton Hall (South 2)
Sacred Heart (North 2) vs. Molloy (South 3)
Marist (North 4) vs. William Paterson (South 1)
New England wide
The New England Wide is a three horse race with major playoff ramifications. The top team gets a bye all the way to the sweet 16 while two and three will battle it out for a play in game.
Coast Guard, Hartford and Quinnipiac are vying for the top spot. Hartford got the better of Quinnipiac 27-24 but an early season forfeit requires them to beat Coast Guard next week. The Coast Guard and Quinnipiac tied during the first week of the season. The winner of the Coast Guard, Hartford game will take the conference.
Southern Connecticut threw the standings into flux with a convincing win over Middlebury 55-22. Norwich still remains in command of the conference and will battle Middlebury next week to officially claim the top spot and a berth to the playoffs.
There is a four team conference playoff on November 4-5 so the win for Southern Connecticut is significant. A win next week and a Norwich victory over Middlebury will propel them in to second place in the division. The conference winner and the second place will likely get a trip to nationals.
Right now Southern Connecticut, Middlebury and Bentley are fighting for the final three spots.
This conference has been all but set for several weeks. There is a four-team playoff with the top two from each division getting in.
The matchups are:
UNC-Charlotte (East 1) vs Coastal Carolina (West 2)
Furman (East 2) vs East Carolina (West 1)
The Mid-Atlantic still has one week of conference play to go. Bloomsburg and York both remain undefeated and do not play each other. Currently, Bloomsburg has one more bonus point, so a win with a bonus point and the regular season conference title is theirs.
This conference is complete with Montana State taking home the regular season title. Conference playoffs will begin in the coming weeks.
North Dakota State took home this conference with a 4-0 record. Duluth sits in second and should receive an at large bid to the national playoffs.
