DII college is in the home stretch. Several conferences are already into their playoffs while some are finishing up regular season play. All, however, will be finished up in the coming weeks.

The WIIL is once again proving to be the toughest conference in the country. Whitewater beat Northern Michigan 56-24 to claim the top spot in the northern division.  Illinois State, who has flown under the radar this season, handily defeated Northern Iowa 49-5 to claim the top spot in the southern division.

Oakland and Grand Valley State squared off to determine the top team in the Great Lakes. GVSU won 25-12 to take the top spot in the conference.

Rugby Northeast will see Bentley and Providence square off as undefeated teams in the final week of the season. Bentley beat Bryant and Providence edged Stonehill over the weekend.

Cortland clinched the top spot in Upstate New York with a win over Oswego State. Geneseo thumped Niagara and claimed the 2nd spot. Six teams make the playoffs in this region with the top two getting byes. Cortland and Geneseo will await the winner’s of LeMoyne vs Oswego and Fredonia vs RIT.

The Tri-State is down to four teams. William Paterson, Siena, RPI and Sacred Heart all won this past weekend.

Both Coast Guard and Hartford won emphatically in the New England Wide to set up a duel in the final weekend of play. The winner will take the conference.

The playoffs are set for the Rocky Mountain. It should come down to Colorado School of the Mines and Western State. Montana State and Colorado College are in the final four but both struggled against the Western and Mines during the regular season.
