The playoff picture is starting to emerge in DII across the country. Conferences are finishing out league play and gearing up for playoffs later this month. A number of marquee games took place over the weekend.

MARC

Villanova defeated York to be the first team to move to 4-0 in the conference while York drops to 2-2. Bloomsburg had the week off and remains at 3-0. Four teams make the playoffs here, and with Scranton at 3-1 Lehigh and York will battle it out for the last playoff spot. Lehigh and York do not play each other and York has a matchup with Bloomsburg next week.

Great Midwest

Two games between undefeated teams highlighted the week in this conference. In the North, Whitewater defeated Northern Michigan by 60, putting to bed any question who was dominant in this division.

Marquette continues to dominate the South, this time picking up a 15-5 win over number six ranked Illinois State. The Wisconsin school has looked might good this year and a close win over division rivals should send a message to the rest of the country.

Midwest

IUPUI is the top dog here. The Jaguars tested their mettle against a DIAA team and came away victorious over Middle Tennessee State. A showdown with Kent State in a few weeks should determine the conference.

Kent State reached the century mark over Western Kentucky. The Ohio school has one blemish to Xavier but since Xavier participates in NSCRO, the game in a few weeks will determine DII first place.

Gateway

In a battle of unbeaten teams, St. Louis edged Principia 27-19. The Billikens remain undefeated and Principia falls to 3-1. Four teams make the conference playoffs here so these two along with UMS&T and Pitt State should reach the final four.

Cardinals

This conference is made up of three hybrid divisions. UVA, NC State and VMI lead their respective divisions. None of these teams played this weekend.

Tri-State

William Paterson continues to dominate the north but TCNJ is sneaking up on people in the south. The College of New Jersey is 4-0 in league play and might be a tough out in the playoffs.

Upstate New York

The entire conference had off this weekend but RIT leads the pack.

New England Wide

Vermont should be on everyone’s radar. They picked up their fourth consecutive shutout, this time a 50-0 win over Southern Connecticut. The rest of the pack is currently playing for second place.

Rugby Northeast

Norwich had the toughest game they have had since the DII final four last year. UMass-Lowell lost a close game 34-26. The Cadets remain in first place at 4-0 but Bentley and UMass-Lowell slot in at second and third with one loss. Both teams, however, lost to Norwich.

Rocky Mountain

Montana State is ravaging its way through the conference. Another 70 point win saw the team move to 4-0.

Southern Conference

UNC-Charlotte and Furman are on a collision course next week. This week, the conference had some makeups from the hurricane with North Carolina picking up a pair of wins. The conference is still pretty wide open.

Deep South

Tulane moved to 3-0 with a win. Of the teams competing in DII in this hybrid conference, they are the only one above 500.

Northern Lights

North Dakota State and Minnesota-Duluth are both undefeated. NDSCU beat St. Thomas this weekend and Duluth had a cancelled game. The teams will meet in the coming weeks.

Great Lakes

Bethel College moved to 4-0 but Oakland gave them a tough game at 33-18. Grand Valley State and Ferris State sit behind at 3-1. Bethel has beaten both squads.
