The DII College playoffs are down to the final 16 after a weekend of play in games. Seven games took place across four regions and for the most part all were close.
The stage is now set for the four regionals next weekend. Three will take place in North Carolina and the final in Columbia Missouri. Teams will need to win back-to-back days to make the final four on December 6.
One game took place in the Midwest. UW-Milwaukee, the third seed from the Great Midwest proved the conference deserved the extra bid with a 18-17 victory over Gateway champs St. Louis.
Milwaukee will take on Bethel next week and UW-Whitewater will take on Montana State in Columbia Missouri.
Like the Great Midwest, the Cardinals Conference showed its prowess. Queens College, who finished in third, edged Furman 36-31. Queens will have a date with Norwich.
In the other play in game Marquette beat Ferris State 39-24 to earn a matchup with MARC champions Villanova.
Geneseo bested Bentley 12-7 and will take on NC State next week. William Paterson edged out former conference rival Sacred Heart 29-22 in the other game and will take on UNC-Charlotte.
UVA and Iowa Central came away winners this week. UVA defeated Bloomsburg 37-17 and Iowa Central handled IUPUI 56-15.
Iowa Central will take on North Dakota State and UVA will play Vermont.
