St. Mary's defeated a mixed San Fransicso Golden Gate side 30-15 in a preseason freindly for both clubs. SFGG fielded a combined lineup of players from their DII team and a few Super League regulars in the Sunday match, and they looked rusty.

St. Mary's, led by All Americans Matt Crawford and Chad Clark in the backs, benefitted from more time on the training ground and game field, looking like more polished than their men's club counterparts. Meanwhile, SFGG missed several scoring opportunities, said SFGG director of rugby Paul Keeler.

The matchup represents a growing trend of Super League and College Premier League sides doing battle in the preseason. Last year, BYU butted heads with the Denver Barbarians, losing narrowly.
