Thirteen points from Brady Gent and tries from Reece Czarnecki, Gabe Sochanek, and a last-minute score from Reese Oberlin saw Davenport defeat West Point in the DIA playoffs Saturday.

Davenport, 0-6 in league play but were brought into the playoffs because they were highly competitive in a tough conference. Army was also a question-mark, having not played a league season due to a suspension.

It was a competitive match. Davenport opened the scoring on a nicely-executed backline move and then Gent kicked a penalty goal to make it 8-0. Army replied with a well-run maul with Collum Magee touching down.

Davenport replied with a converted try, and led 15-7 before Magee scored his second for Army to make it 15-12 at halftime.

Gent hit a penalty and then Jeff Ferebee put Army ahead 19-18 with 30 minutes left. Gent's third penalty put his side ahead again, but Ferebee's second made it 24-21 for Army with five minutes left.

That's when Oberline went over to regain the lead for Davenport for the final time.

Davenport now travels to Lindenwood next week for their quarterfinal.
