With over 30 games over this weekend in men's college and club rugby, many teams picked up their first wins and others built on their resumes. Next weekend sees most of major conferences in D1A Rugby begin full schedules while the eastern club conferences continue their jaunts through the season.

Action in the Rugby East saw Army shut out Buffalo, 60-0, while Penn State, Notre Dame College, and St. Bonaventure picked up a slew of wins in non-conference affairs. With the Big Ten beginning conference play next weekend, Indiana doubled up Lindenwood-Belleville, 41-17, and Ohio State took out Oklahoma, 46-10. The new Liberty Conference kicked off its inaugural match with Binghamton blasting Stony Brook, 41-17.

In the D1AA, all the away teams in the Chesapeake Conference won as Virginia Tech, Mount St. Mary's, Mary Washington, and James Madison were victorious. The SCRC also started this weekend, but the only known outcome is that Tennessee took out South Carolina, 32-22.

Other non-conference games included two huge shutouts as Air Force clobbered Texas Tech, 94-0, and AIC recovered from its loss to Army last weekend to beat UMass, 97-0.

In the Men's Club, Metropolis continues to reign supreme over the Midwest by reaching the century mark over the Chicago Griffins, 109-12. In the remaining games, Cincinnati outscored Milwaukee, the Chicago Lions beat Columbus by one point, 25-24, and the Kansas City Blues won on the road versus Palmer on Saturday.

It was the first weekend of play in the Mid-Atlantic as Rocky Gorge won the conference championship rematch from the fall beating the Pittsburgh Harlequins, 49-28. The Norfolk Blues began their 2017-2018 campaign with a 43-10 win over the Potomac Exiles and the Mid-Atlantic DII Champs, the Washington Irish, edged Baltimore-Chesapeake, 18-17, in its DI debut.

The final premier DI games, the Glendale Merlins (the Raptors DI side) beat the Ontario Arrows, 41-7, and Old Blue dispatched NYAC, 76-33, in the first match of the Atlantic North/ARP.
