Washington State edged Idaho 24-19 Saturday to earn the No. 2 bid from the East Division going into the Northwest Collegiate Rugby Conference playoffs.

The Cougars will now play Oregon in one quarterfinal and Idaho will face Washington in the other, while division champs Western Washington and Eastern Washington receive byes to the semifinals. The quarterfinals are April 6 and the semifinals April 7. The NCRC championship match is April 13 at Magnuson Park in Seattle, Wash.

Western Washington, having gone undefeated in the regular season with a 50-point average margin of victory, is expected to win the NCRC’s automatic bid to Nationals and compete in the Sweet 16 in Austin, Texas. The Vikings beat the East Division champs 44-12 earlier this month.
