Oregon defeated Boise State 36-14 Saturday to finish their Northwest Collegiate Rugby Conference (NCRC) season undefeated at 9-0-1.

The Ducks for three tries from Paul Gerard. They had already clinched the NCRC West before this weekend. Also on Saturday, Eastern Washington defeated Western Washington 36-26 to improve to 4-6.

Oregon Coach Pate Tuisue said things have been going well for the Ducks, but they could be better.

"There are lots of improvements to be made across the board, and the players understand that," said Tuisue. "Execution of skilled tasks that we practice during our training sessions are something that we're trying to accomplish during live games. We coaches want our players to be able to execute under pressure and to be able to think clearly as well. We still have a ways to go but i feel that we're going in the right direction. We'll see."

Right behind Oregon in the West is the University of Washington, which lost a one-point game to Oregon early in the season, and also tied the Ducks. The Huskies faced the highly-regarded Central Washington Wildcats, and held CWU tight - even leading at halftime. But CWU ran away with the game in the second half, winning 42-8. Still, it was a solid performance from an improving UW team.

There's one game left on the NCRC schedule, but the playoffs are now set. Washington will get a rematch with NCRC East winners Central Washington (8-0) on April 5, while Oregon will face NCRC East #2 Washington State.

The final is slated for April 12.
