Cal will play Navy Saturday afternoon in the Varsity Cup semifinal at Witter Field, and both teams are making noteworthy changes to their midfield.

Navy's captain and center Seamus Siefring will not start for the Midshipmen, as he is nursing an injury. That's a blow for Navy, but Dakota Raymond will slot in at the #12 jersey.

Meanwhile, Cal will start regular fullback Jake Anderson at flyhalf. This is Anderson's first ever start at flyhalf for Cal, with freshman Harry Adolphus moving to fullback. Meanwhile sophomore Jesse Milne will make his first-ever start at inside center in place of the inured Jared Braun.

So a big midfield clash, while still big, will have an element of surprise mixed in. Ricky Neel-Feller and Jack McAuliffe are brilliant for Navy at scrumhalf and flyhalf, respectively, and Cal Head Coach Jack Clark called them the best halfback combo Navy has ever had.

At outside center, Nick Hancock is a super talent. They will need Raymond to step up, also. On the Cal side of the ledger, Nik Boyer is a tall, physical, gangly scrumhalf who has played well in place of injured Paul Bosco. Anderson is an excellent player, but somewhat untried at flyhalf, and Milne is a big, physical center still new to the spotlight. Both will likely look to captain and USA prospect Seamus Kelly for leadership from the outside center.
