During the College Rugby Championship last May in Philadelphia, event sponsor Penn Mutual Life Insurance, awarded its first “Life of Significance” award to the Naval Academy’s David Schroeder. The $5,000 donated would be earmarked to the charity of Schroeder’s choice.

He picked the Travis Manion Foundation, so named after a graduate of the Naval Academy who died in Iraq in 2007. The organization assists veterans to transition back into private life after service.
