Canada vs USA

Women’s Super-Series - The final two matches of the Women’s Rugby Super Series will take place, Saturday, July 9 at the Regional Athletic Complex in Salt Lake City. Temperatures in the high 90s are expected. Canada (2-0) go for the title, needing a win against France (1-1). Match at 1 p.m. local time. The USA (0-2) finish with 2014 World Cup Champion England (1-1) at 3 p.m. The Canadians have looked sharp and resourceful, trying to build confidence and momentum toward 2017’s WRWC in Ireland next August.

Cal Place Nine All-Americans – Cal Berkeley, winners of the Varsity Cup (XV) and the Penn Mutual College Rugby Championship (7s) have placed nine players on the USA Rugby All-American 2015-2016 team. These are: Russell Webb, Anthony Salaber, Nicklas Boyer, Scott Walsh, Jesse Milne, George Vrame, Michael Bush, Thomas Robles, and James Konrat. Congratulations to these student-athletes for their fine performance.

Olympics, Schedule of Men’s Matches – The timetable for the Men’s Rugby Olympics Sevens event has been set. Matches to be played in Deodoro Stadium.

Tuesday, August 9    USA    vs.        Argentina       12 p.m. ET

Tuesday, August 9    USA    vs.        Brazil              5 p.m. ET

Wednes., August 10  USA    vs         Fiji                  12:30 p.m. ET

Wednes., August 10    Quarter-finals from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. ET

Thurs.,    August 11    Semis, Finals, and lower ranking games (Coverage from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET.)

Importantly, a quarter final loss will not end competition, as the eight non-medal teams will continue to play for places 5 through 12.
