Rugby Championship Matches On Tap– This Saturday, September 17, the fourth round of the southern hemisphere Rugby Championship continues with undefeated New Zealand (3-0) hosting South Africa (1-2) at AMI Stadium, Christchurch. Game begins at 7:35 P.M. Australia (1-2) welcome Argentina (1-2) at Nib Stadium Perth, with a 6:05 p.m. kickoff time.

Hemisphere Scheduling Alignments? - Talks are underway at World Rugby to consider aligning club and international matches for northern and southern hemispheres to occur at the same time. Currently, for example, the Rugby Championship (see above) takes place in the summer and early autumn, while the Six Nations European tournament runs in the winter months through March. Any changes would not start until after the 2019 Rugby World Cup (RWC) in Japan.

Bids in for the 2023 RWC – To date, four nations have tendered bids to host the 2023 Men’s RWC. These are France, Ireland, Italy, and South Africa. The Irish are hosting the Women’s RWC next August 2017 in Dublin and Belfast.

World Rugby Awards 2016 – The annual awards will take place November 15 at the London Metropole. Included are: Men’s Player, Team, and Coach of the Year. Men’s and Women’s 7s’ Player of the Year. Woman’s Player of the Yea. Try of the Year.
