The end of year American rugby do good list numbers many options; gifts for coaches, team administrators, or your favorite referees But for the national community, two ideas come to mind.
The first is to donate money to the United States Rugby Foundation. The USRF is the sole not-for-profit organization in the country committed to funding the development of rugby initiatives for the 2,200 plus clubs in the nation.
The Executive Director is Brian Vizard, former Eagle captain and past television commentator on “Rugby World”. He is the tireless champion of the sport, a dedicated enthusiast for the past ten-years with the one goal to expand play and improve conditions.
He is aided by an eight-person group of Trustees, and 33 Foundation Directors that lists a who’s who of contemporary American rugby personae.
The link to contribute to this worthwhile organization – a 501©3 tax exempt entity - is www.usrugbyfoundation.org. Here, you can find the history and mission of the USRF, and also learn how to contribute.
Of note is the new “Community of Funds” program that allows donors to be specific about which group/club should receive monies or aid.
The second do good idea is to purchase a four-color, 2015 calendar from the Manhattan-based Village Lions Women, offering its annual artistic homage to women’s rugby and New York City. The cost is $15.00, which includes mailing, and the calendar’s web page is: bit.ly/LionsCal2015.
