Are you a punter in the English racing nomenclature sense, a horseracing bettor?
Today, Saturday, July 7, at Belmont Race Track on Long Island, New York, there's a horse with the telling name of Rugbyman, a gray/roan colt who's running in the one-mile, Grade 3 Dwyer Stakes. This son of Tapwit and Zaftig (out of Gone West) has finished in the money in three starts with a win, a place, and a show. He's won $82,400 in the three races.
The horse's odds are 2-1 in a strong field, including the favorite Mendelssohn going off at 8-5.
Jockey Jose Ortiz is in the irons. The owners are Wertheimer et Frère, the noted French racing entity, which also owns the House of Chanel.
The Dwyer is the sixth race and goes off at 4:35 p.m. ET.
