A wounded Falcons squad finished 2-4 in a series of scrimmages over the weekend in Manchester, UK. The Americans beat Germany and split with France, but fell to Spain, England and Ireland.

Eagles head coach Mike Friday led the Falcons. The idea at the beginning was to get some valuable international minutes for the guys who go on tour all season, but don’t necessarily log a lot of playing time, before the start of the upcoming World Series.

Danny Barrett, Perry Baker, Carlin Isles, Martin Iosefo and the like were never going to suit up. But Matai Leuta and Stephen Tomasin were going to, as was Olympian Garrett Bender. All three were scratched, as was rising speedster Travion Clark. And there were a few other guys Friday wanted who couldn’t make it for one reason or another.

All of the changes turned a pre-season warm-up into more of an opportunity for several youngsters to make their international debuts. Captain Madison Hughes still stepped in to captain the side.

"We finish fourth but good experiences for a number of the boys who certainly stepped up over the weekend to this big challenge, compounded by the injuries and withdrawals we suffered prior to arriving," head coach Mike Friday said.

The Eagles kick off their season in earnest the final weekend of November.
