The High School All Americans finished Friday 4-0 in Group G play at the Rosslyn Park 7s.

The American team, playing in the massive tournament, which features over 7,000 teenage rugby players in a variety of divisions, did well despite only a couple of days of training together.

Led by captain Nu’u Aiava, a Hawaiian-based halfback, the HSAA opened their weekend with a 47-0 thrashing of Welsh school Ysgol Dyffryn Taf. They followed that up with a 61-0 shutout of Lycee Francais Charles de Gaulle, a London-based school for French students.

That set them up with by far their most competitive match of the day. Nottingham High School, won by the HSAA squad 33-22. This was an odd result given the fact Nottingham ended up only 1-3 on the day.

King Edward VI Grammar School was up next, and another shutout – 42-0 for the HSAA team.

That left the Group G standings as follows:

Rosslyn Park 7s Group G W L T Pf Pa Pd Pts
USA High School All American 4 0 0 183 22 161 16
Ysgol Dyffryn Taf 3 1 0 88 73 15 12

Nottingham High School 1 3 0 77 92 -15 4
Lycee Francais Charles De Gaulle 0 4 0 12 170 -158 0

That set the All Americans up for the Round of 32. In their 5th match of the day, the US team emerged 28-17 winners over Skinner's School. That puts them in the Round of 16 against Llandovery College  of Carmarthenshire Wales. That game will be Saturday. If they win that, they play the winners of Millfield School and Oaklands College.
