Almost all of the USA U20 men's team (Junior All Americans) have been in Colorado this past week doing extra training before they officially assemble for the Junior World Rugby Trophy.
Eighteen of the 26 players on the squad have split up by backs and forwards, with the backs in Denver and the forwards in Boulder. The players have been working hard on fitness, and added trips to the Red Rocks Amphiteater (where they pushed very hard) and Mount Sinitas, which they climbed.
Head Coach Scott Lawrence has now joined the squad, which will assemble
completely in Steamboat Springs, Colo. to train at altitude before leaving
for Salt Lake City.
The voluntary workouts for the players is an interesting indication of how the team is approaching the JWRT this year.
The USA opens against Tonga June 18 at Murray City Park in Salt Lake City.
