The USA Women’s National Team is still several thousand dollars short of their travel bill for their tour to Europe November 13-25.

The Eagles have allocated budget funds to the trip, but as everyone who has planned travel well in advance, especially for 30 or so individuals, costs can change quickly (and rarely do they go down).

USA Head Coach Pete Steinberg has published an appeal for support.

“We are still short,” Steinberg told RUGBYMag.com. “That shortfall is under $20,000 now, which is good, but that’s still around 10% of our annual budget, so it’s a lot of money. We are always looking for sponsors but also for donations.”

On the plus side, the Eagles will actually play in Stade de France, the national stadium of France, for their November 24 match against the French national team. This will be a curtain-raiser for the France v. Samoa men’s test match at the same venue.

The game itself will be webcast and televised by Universal Sports.

This will provide a special opportunity for a sponsor to get exposure.

“We are excited also because in the past, when you’re talking about sponsorship, you’re talking as much about asking for a donation from a company that loves rugby,” said Steinberg. “But with this tour and with the match on television, we have something to sell.”
