Gonzaga HS, one of the leading high school rugby teams on the East Coast, met Dixon of California, one of the leading high school rugby teams on the West Coast in, of all places, Argentina this weekend.

Both teams are touring Argentina and met at the ground of Centro Naval.

A Gonzaga 15 lost 29-27 to Centro Naval  in an exciting game.

Then Gonzaga took on Chivilcoy, and fell behind 15-0 before tries from Wes Connors and Tristan Lizama made it 15-10. Chivilcoy scored again but then SM Boisse scored and then Steven Beckerly scored a brilliant try to tie the game. Jack Fluery’s late penalty secured a victory for Gonzaga.

Dixon also beat Chivilcoy, and then the two American teams faced off in a shortened match.

In a tough, hard-nosed battle the teams traded tries. Dixon scored three in the first half to lead 17-12. But in the second half, Gonzaga scored through No. 8 Dom Plantamura, wing Michael Barry, and center Frank Ruzicka to give the win 29-17 to Gonzaga.
