Our apologies on this story as we were told USA flanker John Quill was set to sign a short-term contract with London Irish.

However, Quill is actually set to sign with London Welsh, the same club that recently signed USA flyhalf Toby L'Estrange.

London Irish is in the Aviva Premiership, while London Welsh is a level below, in the Greene King IPA Championship. They are hoping to earn promotion to the 2014-2015 Premiership.

Quill previously played with Boston RFC and this season with Dolphin in Ireland,

Quill, who missed the second half of the USA 2013 season due to injury, is a hard-nosed flanker who qualifies for the USA because his mother is American.

Should he sign, Quill will join L'Estrange, Robbie Shaw (London Scottish) and Eric Fry (London Scottish) on the list of USA players in the Championship. However, that list might well change as Fry has been linked with a Premiership club for next season.
