Successful Japan World Cup coach, Eddie Jones will be appointed England’s new rugby head coach. He arrived in London to complete to contract terms with the Rugby Football Union. The seasoned Australian, aged 55, will succeed outgoing Stuart Lancaster. The RFU had to negotiate (and compensate) the Stormers in Capetown, South Africa for Jones’s contract.

Jones had a long  run as head coach of Australia before a spate of consecutive losses ended his tenure.

Many of the other possible coaching candidates already had firm contracts with other Six Nation and southern hemisphere sides.

Good luck to Jones who must correct - and soon - the decline of England on the European and world rugby stages.
