As anticipated, Stuart Lancaster, coach of England stepped down from the position after his team failed to qualify for the RWC 2015 quarter finals.

The RFU will seek to hire a new coach immediately. Among the potential men mentioned are the following:

Vern Cotter, Scotland

Eddie Jones, Japan

Rob Baxter, Exeter Chiefs

Wayne Smith, All Blacks

Warren Gatland, Wales and Wasps

Joe Schmidt, Ireland

Michael Cheika, Australia

Currently, the 52-year old White is considered the favorite, as he has expressed interest already.

For Ian Ritchie, RFU CEO, is it imperative he make this choice soon, as the English fans, still reeling over the disappointment from the RWC, demand a positive change soon.
