Former San Francisco Golden Gate lock and No. 8 Samuela Manoa will start for the Northampton Saints against Gloucester Sunday in the Aviva Premiership opening weekend and his professional debut.

The Tongan-born lock, who played quarterback at DII Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Mo., made his debut for the Eagles last November against Saracens in London.

Manoa would likely have been a Rugby World Cup selection for the USA, but opted to play for Northampton during the months of September and October instead.

Northampton vs. Gloucester will be aired 10:30am, 3pm and 8pm Sunday on Fox Soccer Plus. All times are Eastern.
