The touring Wales XV, without fourteen men who played against New Zealand last Saturday, were trounced by the Super League’s Chiefs 40-7 in Hamilton. The new Welsh players failed to show any consistency, losing badly to the superior professional club that played without eight of its All Blacks.

The Chiefs scored six tries to only for the visitor in the New Zealand’s team’s first ever international match.

The Chiefs scored at will, including frequent kicks ahead for tries, One dynamic play witnessed a Chief dribbling the ball under the widened legs of his Welsh opponent.

It is doubtful that any member of the loss will move into the starting Welsh fifteen when the test series resumes this Saturday in Auckland.
