New Zealand rugby enjoyed a rare double when both the Women and Men's sides defeated rival Australia in Test matches away in Sydney on the same day.  The two, number one ranked sides per World Rugby had relatively easy wins at the start of the Test season down under.

The All Blacks won 38-13, notching six tries to but one for the Wallabies in the opening game of the southern hemisphere Rugby Championship.

The second contest continues next Saturday, August 25 when the teams move to Eden Park Stadium in Auckland. The final match of the three-game Bledisole Cup (awarded to the winner of the series) will take place in Japan October 27. That match will showcase rugby in Japan, which will host the Rugby World Cup in 2019.

The Black Ferns beat the Wallaroos 31-11 in the first round of the Laurie O'Reilly Memorial Trophy. The visitors scored five tries via a hat trick from captain Fiao'o Faamausili. On note, the crowd at 28,842 attendees set a world record for a Woman's Test Match.  The second game of the series also migrates to Eden Park next week, starting at 5 p.m.
