Saturday worked out pretty well for USA players overseas.

Chris Wyles scored a try and got a yellow card while starting on the wing for Saracens. He helped his side to a 23-10 defeat of Bath to remain entrenched in 2nd place in the Aviva Premiership. Saracens were unable to keep pace with Northampton, though, as the Saints, with Samu Manoa on the bench, hammered Gloucester 39-13 to get the bonus point.

In the Greene King IPA Championship one level down, Toby L’Estrange got his first minutes with London Welsh as they handily beat Ealing (with USA-eligible Ronnie McLean) to stay in 1st.

“I am excited,” L’Estrange told the Oxford Mail before the game. “I have had about two weeks getting used to the players. It has been a good settling in period, but I am looking forward to getting some time on the pitch.”

A big thing for L’Estrange is that he is getting used to playing in England, where the 2015 Rugby World Cup will be.

Ealing’s Development team also played, with Will Magie helping Ealing to a 19-17 win over Esher.

Blaine Scully starts for Leicester on Sunday. Robbie Shaw starts for London Scottish also on Sunday. Eric Fry is out injured.

Nick Civetta started at lock for Lazio in their Eccellenza loss to Petrarca 28-16.
