USA player Blaine Scully has already made a strong impression with the Leicester Tigers, so says the This is Leicester news outlet.

The former Cal All American and mtultiple USA 7s and 15s Eagle is playing for a professional contract and has seen his trial extended.

Assistant coach Richard Blaze said Scully has already been a "good influence" on the squad, said This is Leicester. "He is a really good person to have in the environment," said Blaze. "His skill-set is good, and he is really enthusiastic and always wants feedback. He is a really good bloke. He's 25 but his enthusiasm is like that of a 21-year-old. He just wants to get better, is really keen and a good influence on the other guys in the squad."

Tigers back Mat Tait has also been impressed by Scully's attitude on the training field.

"Blaine has done really well since he arrived," he said. "He has settled in and played some really good rugby, and I have been impressed by what I have seen."

Scully is in the Leicester squad to play against Montpellier in Geneva this weekend. With Tait and Niall Morris potential callups for England and Ireland, respectively, Scully could help provide depth at fullback.

Everyone likes the Sacramento native, but it's up to Director of Rugby Richard Cockerill.

Scully also made a good impression in the JP Morgan 7s. See below highlights from the team's match against Northampton, where Scully makes a try-saving tackle that leads to a try for his own team.
