Coach Gatland and Squad

An important Rugby World Cup tournament warmup match will occur this Saturday, August 8, when Ireland visit Wales in Cardiff. Wales was an upset victor 23-16 in last year’s Six Nation’s Cup. Ireland has won all of their past autumn test matches, defeating South Africa (29-15) and Australia (26-23) in Lansdowne Road.

Both coaches, Warren Garland of Wales, and Joe Schmidt of Ireland, announced they will start three or four new players for the game. After the match, both sides will pare the number of eligible from about 45 players, eventually, reducing the side to the 31 player RWC final roster.

These teams will meet again on August 29, in Dublin.
