USA prop Mike MacDonald, who holds the record for most caps by an American with 67, will not play rugby this summer.

MacDonald had been trying to get back to fitness and did play for The Olympic Club in the winter and spring, but a back injury ruled him out of selection for this last weekend's Canada test.

Now MacDonald announced through Twitter that he will be out long-term.

MacDonald tweeted

"Back is gone, summer is done. Looking like a third surgery in 18 months." It does seem as if MacDonald, who is only 32, still wants to get back to international level. Big Mac was first capped as a 20-year-old in 2000, and has played in three Rugby World Cup tournaments.
