USA Rugby CEO Nigel Melville took a shot Saturday when he Tweeted to Tim Tebow that the recently-cut NFL player should try rugby.
Tebow, who won the 2007 Heisman Trophy while playing quarterback for the University of Florida has become a polarizing figure in football because, while teams he plays for seem to win when he is on the field, his technique and abilities are not held in high esteem by coaches.
Tebow, who threw for two touchdowns in his final preseason game for the New England Patriots, but was cut in part because his overall stats were uninspiring. Melville then tweeted to Tebow the following:
File this under "worth a shot." Certainly football is full of players who have skills and athletic ability, but somehow don't fit into the NFL mold.
