The New Zealand national rugby team visited San Francisco earlier this month for Air New Zealand Night, a promotion to support tourism to New Zealand.

Billed as one world champion (the All Blacks) visiting another (the San Francisco Giants) the visit was part of a Giants promotion at AT&T Park.

In addition, reports from New Zealand say the visit might have been part of a scouting trip looking for a potential US venue for an All Blacks game. With the All Blacks' major sponsor being AIG, a US-based company (which also is an advertiser on RUGBYMag.com), there's considerable interest in finding a United States venue for a match.

New Zealand hasn't played the USA in a full test since the 1991 Rugby World Cup in England, and have not played the USA in the United States since 1980 - their first match was in 1913.

See the promotional video below and another video from local news talking about the visit, during which the All Blacks, looking a bit crickety in their moves, took their hacks at batting practice, and certainly got a few hits in.
