The military schools’ sports rivalry, long heralded in gridiron lore, witnessed the second rugby contest between Army and Navy Women in 2004. This marked the Cadets second year at rugger, when they came out ahead 31-3 in a rout of their Annapolis opponents.

In the first contest in 2003, Navy rolled over a neophyte Army XV 67-0. It took the West Pointers only one year to rebound for their first win in what would become another exciting rivalry between these institutions.

With the halftime score 5-3, it seemed anyone’s game to win. But the Army forwards produced good ball for the backline as scrumhalf Amanda Brown juked in for two tries. The Cadets added two more tries and Devon Savoy converted all to raise the score 26-3.

Cherise Tatum would score the final try for Army.

The match was played in neutral Swarthmore, Pennsylvania,
