The All Blacks clinched their fifth Rugby Championship in six years with an easy win over Argentina 36-10. On the fifth game of the six-match tournament, the Kiwis led 29-3 at the half. Beaudon Barret, 2016 Player of the Year, notched 11-points. Since 2011, Los Pumas have not beaten New Zealand in fourteen-matches, coming closest by ten points in the 2016 Rugby World Cup game played at Wembley Stadium, England.

The win gave the All Blacks a 5-0 record, and mathematically, they will be champions no matter what occurs against South Africa next week in the season finale.

The second Australia vs. Springboks contest ended in a draw for the second time in this year’s event. The 27-27 draw mirrored the 23-23 tie earlier, an anomaly in Test rugby considering that these two powerhouses played 23-matches since 2007 without one tie. Australia lead overall in that decade 13-10-2.

This Saturday, October 7, the southern hemisphere Rugby Championship concludes when South Africa host New Zealand at Newlands Stadium, Cape Town, while Argentina are home to Australia, the game at Estadio Malvinas, Mendoza. The Wallabies need the win to tie the Springboks at 2-2-2, in the probable outcome of an All Black victory next Saturday.
