Naya Tapper

The USA Women played superbly going 2-1 and advancing into the Langford, Canada quarterfinals. Their opponent on Sunday will be host Canada.

In the opener, the Eagles defeated #3 ranked Russia easily 35-14 after leading at half time 28-0. With minutes of the start, winger Naya Tapper skirted around end to notch her 50th try in the series. The Eagles added four tries by four other players with Emba, Kelter, Carlyle, and Heavirland each scoring one.

Next up were France, ranked fourth, and a side that shut out these Eagles in Japan. Les Bleues led 15-5 at the break. The Eagles soared ahead 19-15 but could not prevent the winning try by Le Pesq. Final: France 22-19.

In the third contest of pool play, the USA defeated Japan 28-7. Tapper scored twice and Emba once.
