The top teams in the RUGBYMag.com rankings did well in the recent playoffs. We make only a couple of small changes. Washington State moves up from 3 to 2 and Shippensburg slips to #3. Really it's a commentary on WSU's dominance, but it's an argument that will be settled in Stanford in a couple of weeks.

Western Washington, which was beaten soundly by a Humboldt State team in the PCRFU playoffs, only to see Humboldt lose twice in the national playoffs, slips heavily.

It's a tough move, because WWU played WSU close in league play, but playoff time is when you need to bring your best.

The other big move down is Rutgers, who had to bow out of the national playoffs due to violating conduct policies at school and being told they had to stay home. When the playoffs are coming, that sort of thing, unacceptable at any time, is doubly unacceptable. Rutgers doesn't deserve to be ranked #11 for shear lack of foresight.

We have a lot of tough decisions to make in the bottom 10 or so, because, frankly, the quality drops off precipitously. Cal State Northridge loses 103-0 and moves up? Well they did win their next game, and other teams in that ranking range can point to playoff blowouts.

Pas the top eight or so, this division is struggling to maintain the standard.
