While it is clear that men’s rugby in the military is strong – they have an Armed Forces Championship, the women don’t – efforts are afoot to get women more involved.

According to United States Army 7s Head Coach Mark Drown, the program is looking to put together an All-Army women’s 7s team, and is looking to encourage other branches of the military to do the same and help start a Women’s Armed Forces Championships.

USA Rugby Competitions Committee Member Tam Breckenridge is reportedly supportive of allowing an All-Army team into the club 7s national championships, although that has not been verified.

However, Drown did say he is committed to forming a women’s Army team in 2013, and hopes other branches follow suit.
