Playoff Saturday was in effect this weekend in college as club rugby put some of last touches on their fall schedules. Indiana and Dartmouth claimed conference titles while James Madison earned its right to play in D1AA Nationals. An early Mid-South conflict had Arkansas State defeat Davenport and TCU, Texas &M, and Texas Tech rolled in the Red River. In non-conference action, St. Mary’s and Lindenwood blew out their opponents and Life swept Navy and Penn State.

D1A saw Indiana cap off its fifth consecutive undefeated Big Ten season with a narrow 38-36 championship win over Ohio State. Both squads found it difficult to capitalize on their opportunities as the match ultimately came down to who could make their conversions. Wisconsin took third with a win against Michigan, Illinois beat Michigan for fifth, and Purdue prevailed over Minnesota for seventh.

Arkansas State began its Mid-South season with a 44-29 win over Davenport, who has struggled recently. In the second week of the D1A Red River, TCU and Texas Tech shut out Houston and Oklahoma, respectively, and the Aggies of Texas A&M cracked the Longhorns of Texas, 45-14. Lastly, Rhode Island and Binghamton won in the Liberty before the Bowl Series kicks off next weekend.

In preseason action, St. Mary’s got its first run in pulverizing UC-Santa Cruz, 157-0, and after Lindenwood's early weekend match was canceled, the Lions were not nice to Delaware shutting out the Blue Hens, 83-0. In its Mid-Atlantic tour, Life triumphed over two top ten clubs beating Penn State and blanking Navy.

In D1AA, Dartmouth easily won its 11th straight Ivy title with a 43-22 victory over Harvard. In the postseason play-in game, James Madison outscored Virginia Tech, 37-12, and will now advance to Nationals.

In the penultimate weekend for DI club rugby in the Mid-Atlantic and Midwest, the conference leaders remained undefeated. Rocky Gorge and Metropolis notched their eighth and 13th consecutive victories of the fall. Second place in the divisions had mixed results as Norfolk rebounded to beat Potomac while the Chicago Lions fell to Columbus.
