With the USA Eagles on their way to another top finish at the Vancouver 7s, plenty of rugby was on tilt stateside. St. Mary’s, Life, Lindenwood, San Diego State, Central Washington, Oklahoma, and LSU each won their D1A matches. Cal and Army advanced to the final at the Cal Invitational and the Bears withstood the Black Knight barrage to win 50-41 on Sunday. In club land, OMBAC, Life West, and Belmont achieved victory in the PRP and the Dallas Reds, Austin Blacks, and Little Rock Stormers picked up Ws in the Red River. Lastly, in its first MLR home exhibition match, the Glendale Raptors upended NOLA Gold, 38-14.

St. Mary’s continued to prove it is the best team in the country with a 37-29 win against BYU in Provo, Utah. The victory completes a sweep of its home and away series versus the Cougars. In the Mid-South, Life and Lindenwood kept chugging along dispatching Arkansas State and Davenport with little resistance.

At the Cal Invitational, Cal routed UCLA, 58-3, and Army cracked Claremont, 44-10, to advance to the final today. UCLA came back to beat Claremont, 31-24, in the early match on Sunday and Cal survived against Army, 50-41.

Down in the D1A Red River, its getting crowded at the top of the standings with three one-loss teams. LSU kept pace pushing its record to 5-1 with an 83-17 win against Houston while Oklahoma is right behind at 5-3 with its victory at Arkansas. LSU concludes its conference schedule next Saturday against Texas at home.

In D1AA action, Long Beach State shut out Cal State Northridge in Gold Coast; Missouri blanked Nebraska in the Heart of America; Nevada, Chico State, UC Santa Cruz, and San Jose State won in the Pac West, and North Florida clipped Florida International in the SIRC.
