OMBAC opened their Southern California DI club account with a 55-19 defeat of Los Angeles.

This was the biggest margin of victory in the opening weekend of SoCal play, a weekend in which both Belmont Shore and Back Bay recorded victories.

Belmont Shore edged Santa Monica 12-8. Meanwhile Back Bay defeated a young Las Vegas Blackjacks side 37-7.

The standings are as follows:

Nineteen-year-old newcomer Christopher Buford scored two tries for OMBAC, while Zach Pangelinan added a try, two penalties, and seven conversions for 25 points. Tai Tuisamoa and Kevin Cragin also got involved in the scoring.

Head Coach Eugene Mountjoy was pleased, saying that despite the fact his team appeared to fade late due to lack of fitness, they played well.

"It was a good, total team effort, and I think if I was pleasantly surprised by anything it would be how well everyone played together," Mountjoy told RUGBYMag.com. "I was also pleased with our set piece. We had a solid foundation and that gave our #9 and #10 more room to play."

OMBAC faces Belmont Shore next week.

"I told the guys to enjoy it now because we have a tough game next week," Mountjoy said.
