Fiji won the World Rugby Pacific Nations Cup, defeating its long-time rival Samoa 39-29.  The Fijians went out front early 17-3 before the Samoans rallied. The win represented Fiji's first  in the past five contests between these island nations.

Tonga achieved third place, beating Japan 31-20. Tonga led from the whistle and was never threatened.

The USA finished fifth with a narrow 15-13 win over Canada. The two, back-to-back victories were only the fourth time for the Eagles since the beginning of this series, which Canada still leads.

Looking ahead to the Rugby World Cup, the USA will meet Samoa and Japan in pool play.
